Doctors and scientists advise parents to save their children’s infant teeth for reasons that have nothing to do with sentimentality. It turns out that their teeth contain a large amount of stem cells that may one day save their lives.
Many illnesses, including Parkin$on’s, Alzhimer’s, and some forms of canccer, are treated with stem cells. Many of those who are diagnosed with these must wait a long time to find a compatible bone marrow donor.
If your child is diagnosed with any of these disorders and you keep their baby teeth, they won’t need to wait for a donor because the stem cells in them can be used for treatment.
