Following a tragic series of circumstances, a Utah family is mourning the loss of their 6-year-old daughter Aria Hill, who was struck by a golf ball at an Orem golf course.
Aria was waiting naively in a golf cart about 20 yards from where her father was teeing off when the tragic event occurred. Aria was struck in the head by a golf ball that deviated from its intended path, according to Orem police.
Paramedics arrived at Sleepy Ridge Golf Course promptly and took Aria to the hospital. Despite all efforts to save her, the small child did not survive her injuries.
The family is still in shock, coping with an inconceivable tragedy. Aria’s uncle David Smith described the tragic incident as an exceptional fluke accident, emphasizing its extreme unpredictability.
Speaking on behalf of the grieving family, Smith detailed how they had struggled together and rallied at their Sandy home to support one another after Aria’s untimely death.
Smith perfectly captured the family’s profound sorrow when he said, “You really can’t imagine what this is going to be like until it happens.”
Smith observed Aria as a bright, vivacious young woman who was ready to proudly declare that “purple is my favorite color.” Her infectious happiness, her kindness, and her practice of saying hello to everyone she met were what defined her personality.
Overcome by the unexpected tragedy, the family has set up a fundraising webpage to try and alleviate some of the funeral expenses. The community is providing support to the bereaved family during this difficult time.
On the fundraising website, Aria’s mother expressed her gratitude to everyone for their love, prayers, and support. Aria’s mother, who referred to her as the “sassiest girl in the world,” created a heartfelt portrayal of her daughter that was quirky, funny, artistic, and full of love for everyone she encountered.
The circumstances the Hill family is in after this tragic incident serve as a somber reminder of both the erratic character of life and the transient quality of special moments shared with loved ones. Individuals who knew Aria will never carry her memory with them, and the community is coming together to offer comfort and support to a family dealing with an unfathomable loss.
